Naming our first boy but last child!!! My husband and father in law are both David, my husband goes by Adam so the babies first name will be David but he will go by his middle name! This name came to me out of nowhere and Im hooked, but open to suggestions!

I think Abel David flows and looks better together. Although I think it’s too many long A sounds.

I don't mind the first name.
A friend I had growing her brothers name was Christopher Ryan. And went by Ryan. For years I had no idea his first name was Christopher.

I think it’s likely to be misspelled as Able.

Thank you for having a normal name. It's very handsome and timeless!

Thank everyone for the input!! My name is Alicia and it is misspelled by people all the time including my grandma!!! But that’s due to its many spellings. I don’t think Abel would be misspelled as frequently as it is has two very different meaning able is... “I’m able to walk still” and Abel is a name format and comes from the Bible the most known book in the world. However I’m sure people will still misspell it but that’s not my main concern!!

It’s cute! I’m probably doing the same thing with my son, first name is dads name but we will call him by his middle name. My nephew, brother in law, and a couple generations beyond all are that way

I love the name. In my family John is a tradition and there are so many Johns, but none of them go by their name. We have Buddy, Guy, Jack and others all with the first name of John. So I think it's great your following the tradition!
